If you head down to Puerto Rico, you won't find yourself lacking in things to do! Depending on the type of experience you're looking for, you'll quickly see that there's plenty of activities to keep you busy during your visit. Need inspiration for a sample itinerary? This is what we like to do when we're staying in beautiful Puerto Rico.
Day One – Get Settled In
Get to know the area by wandering through the streets of San Juan. Sample the local cuisine and treat yourself to some of the delicious local food and drinks found in Puerto Rico. Do a little shopping in the city – there are plenty of fabulous malls and shopping centers to check out. At night, explore San Juan's vibrant nightlife and hit the dance floor and sway to the rhythm of that tropical Puerto Rican beat.
Day Two – Explore the Islands
Believe it or not, there are actually quite a few offshore islands surrounding Puerto Rico. They are home to gorgeous beaches, great hiking, snorkeling and more. After you've spent your first day getting acquainted with the main island, discover the exciting things to do on places like Culebra and Vieques. Highlights include Flamenco Bay, kayaking, jet skiing, and more. Stay after dark and see the unearthly beauty of Vieques' very own bioluminescent bay, Mosquito Bay. You'll never witness anything like it anywhere else in the world.
Day Three – Learn Local Culture
Puerto Rico is full of stunning architecture, particularly in Old San Juan, where people have made a considerable effort to preserve the old buildings. Walking through the streets is like taking a trip back in time and a wonderful way to get to know the city. Stop by museums in the area to learn more about the history, art, and culture of Puerto Rico – it is both rich and vibrant and will certainly help you appreciate this beautiful island all the more.
Day Four – Discover the Natural Wonders
Located in the tropics, Puerto Rico has a phenomenally diverse range of flora and fauna available to see. From tropical rainforests to an undersea paradise full of exotic wildlife, there's plenty to explore. Once you've hiked your way through El Yunque and dove into the Caribbean Sea, kick back and relax on a sailboat or yacht to see what life is all about topside.
Day Five – Chill Out
The last day of your stay in Puerto Rico is one for relaxing. Hit one of the many beaches and sip on a cocktail or mosey up one of the island's many five star resorts for a massage or spa day. If you enjoy gambling, there's also a few casinos on the island where you can place a few bets and play a poker hand or two. Be sure to get your fill of delicious local food at one of the many popular restaurants in San Juan.
All this and more await you in Puerto Rico. The adventure never stops. You may have so much fun you'll be tempted to extend your stay. Go ahead – we won't tell.
